Gifted by Nature

Organised by youth programmes at Tate Modern, Gifted by Nature was a series of four day workshops that took place during the Easter holidays at the Tate Modern. Led by artist Daniel Wallis, and supported by animator Kevin Griffiths, young people from Lambeth and Tower Hamlets took part in designing, creating and producing an animation in response to the exhibition Roni Horn aka Roni Horn.

During the four half-day workshops young people had the opportunity to draw and create art,  using many different styles and materials.
They were taught how to use animation programmes which they then used to record their animations. They were then given the opportunity to edit their work by adding sound and effects.

A celebration event was held the following Thursday evening to celebrate the young people’s work. This was held at the Tate Modern Art Gallery where many guest attended, food was provided, and everyone was able to watch the Animation DVD that was made by the young people.
All participants were presented with certificates and goodie bags which contained a DVD of their animation, books, posters and drawing materials. The event was very successful and everyone involved enjoyed it immensely. Can’t wait for next year!
