Celebration Event – We want to make sure that if you have worked hard at school/college or done well in anything else, that this is celebrated. The event is held at the start of the year and you don’t need to wait for your carer, social worker or teacher to tell us about what good work you’ve done, YOU can also tell us! Click here to Check out the pictures from the last event.

Newsletter – 6 looked after young people write and produce a newsletter twice a year called G2K - ‘Get 2 Know’. This is sent to all children and young people looked after and leaving care to Lambeth. The 6 young people who work on the newsletter do an outstanding job and not only do they get the experience, they also get LOCN accreditation in journalism!  If you want to take a look at some of our past issues go ahead and click here!

Website – This is where you are now. What do you think about it? (Got any other ideas or suggestions? Have your say in the discussion forum or send us an email!).

This website was made especially for children and young people looked after by Lambeth for children and young people looked after by Lambeth!! Why, coz young people told us they wanted a website just for them where they could have a discussion forum with other young people in care to Lambeth, have one place where they could access all the right information and be able to post things like their drawings, stories, songs, poems, artworks (got anything you want to share, then log in and put it up on the gallery).

Teenagers to Work Scheme – Over the 2007 summer holidays, five young people looked after by Lambeth aged 16-18 years will take part in two weeks work experience in different Lambeth Council departments. We sent out the information to everyone who was 16-18 years, and if you didn’t apply, don’t worry, there’s always next year.  Check it out and see how to take part!

Children with Disabilities looked after – ALL children must be able to have a say in decisions that are made about them. To help us make sure this is done better with children who have a disability, we will be finding out from children with disabilities how we can communicate better with them and what else we can do to make their lives better.

Community Care Magazine – Three young people looked after will be writing articles for the Community Care magazine (sent to all people working with children and young people across the country) and also share advice to other looked after children.

Training Workshops and Seminars - Ever wanted to tell a group of social workers, foster carers, Councillors and other people who work with children what it’s like for you to be in care and what could be better? Well we had a group of young people looked after by Lambeth take part in training new social workers on how to communicate better with looked after young people and building up their trust. We are going to be involved in lots more training so if you want to be involved, check this out and then give us a call!
